Art Brokerage: David Huchthausen American Glass Artist: Elements of his early background in Architecture, his intense interest in primitive art and ritual and a focus on the Art Deco and Modèrne periods that preceded World War II are all evident in the development of his blown glass and sculpture between 1970 and 1980. Throughout David Huchthausen's 30-year involvement with glass, he has always focused on the qualities that are unique to this medium. Through his abstract compositions, he continues to explore how glass can materialize color. Those geometric arrangements of often dichroic colored glasses are transformed by light--sometimes focused through lenses--to project still other compositions through and in the clear crystal blocks that comprise his forms.
