Gary Mirabelle - United States
Art Brokerage: Gary Mirabelle American Artist: Gary Mirabelle is an American artist born in 1951 in New Rochelle, New York. Gary joins Duane Hanson, John De Andrea, and Marc Sijan as a contemporary figurative sculptor. His work includes iconic characters from his memory trove of working folk to elegant and sensual nudes. Early on he worked building models for an architectural firm and later produced realistic special effects for feature films. Mirabelle earned his bachelor of fine arts in 1976 from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a concentration in sculpture. He taught sculpture and drawing from 1976 to 1978 at The Art Students League. His talent has led to commissions in film, architecture, and animation. Collectors enjoy the life-like surprise of the irritable granny on a chair in the corner and the contained attitude of his butlers. Mirabelle's whimsical life-sized figures pay homage to the characters that are an indelible part of our culture: the tacky tourist - the bored security guard - carpenters, painters, and thieves.
