Hilary Eddy - United States
Art Brokerage: Hilary Eddy British-American Artist: Hilary Eddy, was born in England and spent her childhood in Surrey where her mother's love of colourful flowers and her father's broad appreciation of nature proved to have a profound influence on her artistic concerns and interests. Following a formal education at grammar school she attended college in North Wales where she was awarded the Douglas Williams Memorial Prize for Excellence in Art. She then came to the U.S. where she pursued her career at Purdue University, gaining her M.A. in Fine Art in 1974. Eddy has held more than 60 solo exhibitions of her oil paintings nationally at museums, universities and commercial galleries. Her paintings have been featured in numerous publications including American Art Collector, International Artist, The Artist's Magazine, Best of Worldwide Abstract and Still Life Artists. Quoted by American Art Collector, "Hilary's large-scale oil paintings on canvas magnify the splendour of flowers through prisms of decorative glass and mirrors using a myriad of hues and orientations. Looking at glass as a repository and refractor of light, her palatial landscapes mirror dream, life and reality. Orienting visual matter seamlessly in the space of the canvas, her works occupy the transfixing border between object and apparition. Through this close observation, Hilary delivers a world of hidden beauty and possibilities, latent until discovered and translated into her vibrant, visual language. Her richly varied perspectives lend everyday objects an almost monumental grandeur when placed in unexpected environments--overlooking rolling hills, backed by distant blue mountains and threatening skies, or against the ocean's sparkle."
