"Farm House 14x26" by Rod Goebel - 🔥Framed Oil on Board
Art Brokerage: Rod Goebel American Artist: b. 1946-1993. Rod Goebel was a powerful painter of Southwest landscapes, still life and figure using color, light and shadows, to make a strong impression that made him one of the greatest artist in Taos, New Mexico. Born in Austin, Texas and growing up in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, Goebel was inspired to pursue a career in art. Some people ask how they can learn to paint. That was never a question I asked myself. I just painted because I wanted to I had to. When he was eighteen and had a brush with death and he began to paint seriously. He completed study at the University of New Mexico and continued at the Colorado Institute of Art and private lessons in portraiture. There is no end to learning about art, he observed, especially color. I'm fascinated by color. I am not an intellectual painter, but rather a physical or emotional one. Many of my paintings are based on intellectual concepts or color or design, but as soon as I begin to work, the intellectual process ends. In 1979, Goebel was elected to the National Academy of Western Art and was a charter member of the Taos Society of Artist. For over a twenty year career Goebel produced a large body of work distinguished because of its variety of subject matter and different artistic approaches. He was known as a brilliant colorist with a great deal of his individuality and unique sight coming from always doing his landscapes outside. He spent most of his adult life living and painting in Taos, NM.., although he had a great fascination with the ocean and made many painting trips to the West Coast to paint. In his last years Goebel was recognized as a master teacher, holding classes and workshops throughout the Southwest. Listings wanted.
