Tom duBois - United States
Art Brokerage. Tom duBois American Artist: b. 1957. Tom duBois, born September 15th, 1957, has the gift of seeing through a child's eyes thus transforming the realistic into the fantastic. The results are highly imaginative works of art unique to his creative genius. A true Renaissance man, duBois has merged his love of art, poetry, and music into an interesting and diverse career. He is an illustrator as well as a fine artist, poet, singer, and storyteller. Tom often appears at gallery signings with his acoustic guitar and sings to the amazement and delight of his collectors. He is fond of a quote by Picasso, "Every child is an artist. The problem is remaining a child once you grow up." People across America have been reintroduced to the story of Noah's Ark with duBois' vibrant images. A series of four, each painting depicts a different scene of the story, showing the Ark's progress in The Commission, The Invitation, The Promise, and The Celebration. Despite it's considerable success, it is first and foremost a labor of love. The Promise was nearly a year in the making. Tom not only researched the story of the Ark, but sewed the costumes worn by his models. He traveled to several zoos, including those in San Diego, Chicago and Los Angeles, to sketch and photograph a variety of animals. His faithful attention to detail is evident, the viewer will continually notice new things, seemingly insignificant details will reveal the considerable knowledge, faith, and skill that went into their creation.nnTom duBois' passion for life and enthusiasm for the world of imagination breathe life into every piece he creates. "Like every kid, Disney was a big part of my life growing up. I loved all the characters, and the sheer fantasy and creativity of the animated films was an inspiration. The complex compositions, with their hidden images, are as challenging to render as they are to discover. The whole idea of producing these works just thrills me." Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
