Hans Van Horck - Netherlands
Art Brokerage: Vanhorck Dutch Artist: b. 1952. Vanhorck (born: Hans van Horck, 1952 in Tegelen, The Netherlands) had his education at the Academy for Industrial Design in the city of Eindhoven. He further developed his skills in graphics design and applied art in Switzerland. His career as professional artist started around 1978. He first made name as an aquarellist of nudes and portraits. During the 1980's his work became more abstract and more expressive. He started working on canvas with mixed media and acrylic paint. Vanhorck always paints with the canvases in a horizontal position. This way he can apply a lot of paint, either thick and pasty or very liquid. It also makes it possible for him to move around the canvas while painting, monitoring the composition at all times and from all angles. Vanhorck gets his inspiration from the mythology of the European, Asian, African and North-American culture. His works have a high level of abstraction, but are rarely entirely abstract. You can find mythological symbols, elements of nature and architecture and on rare occasions the female nude. Other sources of inspirations are painters like Gerhard Richter and Caspar David Friedrich. Vanhorck was based in Amsterdam before moving to Amersfoort in the late 1990's. In 2018 he was one of the founders of Musiom, a museum for contemporary art by Dutch artists. Listings wanted.
