Bruno Zupan - Slovenia
Art Brokerage: Bruno Zupan was born in a small village in Slovenia in 1939, on the eve of World War II. His father was killed in the war, and his family was left destitute. But the artistic dreams of the young Zupan managed to stay alive, and Bruno eventually attended art school in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1962 he emigrated to Paris and officially left behind provincialism forever. He was to become a citizen, and a painter, of the world. In addition to confirming his artistic vocation, it was in Paris that he met and married his wife, Jane, an American from the Deep South. Together they have traveled the world, with Paris, Mallorca, and Venice as Zupan's favorite painting destinations. The artist Zupan works directly in front of his subject, en plein air, wherever that air is. He chooses places that he connects with deeply to paint. Then he spends hours a day, and then days and weeks, exuberantly depicting what he feels to be the magic of that place. Original paintings wanted.
