Art Brokerage: Jose Montanes French Artist: b. 1918-1998. Jose Montanes was born near Valencia in 1918, received his training in that city and, through a French Government scholarship, at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Jose Montanes also went to school with Pablo Picasso when they were young boys, long before they were to become world famous painters. From his home in Paris he has toured the world and exhibited in the leading cities of Europe and America. His first successful exhibition was held at the Cowie Wilshire Galleries in Los Angeles in 1957. Montanes' work is represented in major museums and private collections worldwide.
