For Luloff, the sheets reference "home, intimacy, dreams, and drama" and imbue her works with a host of formal qualities, "their crumpling acting as an impasto swoosh, or creating chiaroscuro," she says. "Patterns from the sheets offer a harder edge line in contrast with my organic brush marks." Her boldly expressive use of mixed-media harkens to Robert Rauschenberg's "Combines", while her color treatment has been compared to that of Abstract Expressionist Helen Frankenthaler.
