Bill Schmidt - United States
Art Brokerage: Bill Schmidt American Artist: Bill Schmidt graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, and began painting as a hobby. As he traveled with his engineering career around the country, he studied with landscape painters in New England and New York. By 1984, Bill's hobby had progressed into his full-time profession. Bill Schmidt was largely self-taught and developed his own painting style that was called by an art critic, "a unique American Impressionism." As an Impressionist –plein air" oil painters, Bill paints outdoors in all seasons, making nature his studio for thirty-five years. – Painting on site can best capture the vibrancy and effects of color, light, and shadow in a scene," Bill believes. He finds the most joy in painting marines and water-related scenes, but he also takes pleasure in painting the countryside and street scenes. – I like nature, but also nature touched by people."
