Story / Additional InfoJerzy Kubina Polish/American Artist: born in Zamosc, Poland (1956), studied at the Academy Of Fine Arts in Krakow in the painting department. He immigrated to New York in 1986. Kubina constructs large scale images on silk using technologies to create layers, textures, translucency. He is searching for a language that expresses the ideas inside. Sometimes the paintings are quiet and translucent, and then suddenly become very dramatic. There is a symbiotic relationship between him and the materials.
Jerzy Kubina has exhibited his work widely in the US, including at Soho New York's first-ever gallery, the esteemed O.K. Harris. He has also shown internationally, in Paris, Poland and Mexico. Kubina graduated Magna Cum Laude from the M.A. program of The Academy of Fine Arts, Cracow, Poland
