Story / Additional InfoThe apple represents ecstasy. It is commonly used as a symbol of love, marriage, spring, youth, fertility, longevity, and immortality. According to a Greek myth, Hercules stole the golden apple of immortality from Gesperides. In Christian tradition, the apple is related to desire - the serpent invited Eve to take a bite of the apple taken from the Tree of Life. In China, the apple is a symbol of peace, and its flowers are a symbol of beauty. The apple is a symbol of a world megacity, New York. Yet the artist is more interested in the metamorphosis and lifecycle of a butterfly than the symbolic meaning of an apple. The known three stage development of a butterfly is associated with the spiritual development of the artist himself. A very important phase is the pupa, which invisibly exist in the picture. At this stage, the artist filters out false figures, and finds his way, determined to refine his method. He gains strength and…take-off!
