Provenance / HistoryThe Swan Princess" is an image of a young maiden, just liberated from the confines of her feathered captivity, to shine forth in the guise of a princess. Against the backdrop of her majestic beauty, two swans gracefully emerge, as if her faithful companions. The painting, crafted with masterful strokes of the brush, recreates this spectacle with shades of a cold palette so intense that it seems as if the sigh of a chilly wind pierces the soul."The graceful dance of the birds embodies tenderness and elegance, like a singing ballet. Their necks intertwine in an elegant waltz, and each movement is imbued with enchantment. Vivid paints, applied with bold strokes, like flames of passion, animate the scene and fill it with energy, transforming the ordinary into a captivating visual experience."
Story / Additional InfoAccording to the aesthetics of the Symbolists, the swan represents inspiration. The Swan Princess then is a being of dualism, personifying two contradictory elements: the dark, cold water and simultaneously the yearning to soar heavenward. The artist attempts to capture the moment of transformation from maiden to bird, that wondrous metamorphosis where forms seem to melt, dissolve in the beams of the setting sun.

Vladimir Mukhin's works are appreciated both by professional artists and art lovers worldwide. Master works can be found in galleries and private collections in Russia, USA, Canada, France, China and Australia. After training at the Penza Art School, Mukhin, an aspiring artist, entered and successfully graduated from the famous Russian Academy of Painting. He remembers that many of his teachers had been deported to this neglected backwater of the Soviet Union as punishment for their artistic aspirations. 'I remember', he says sadly, 'they were proud but they were broken'. In 1986 Vladimir entered the Penza College of Fine Art (400 miles southeast of Moscow). It was here that Vladimir began to realize the inherent conflict of trying to become a great painter under a Soviet system that promoted uniformity. 'The credo of the artist must always be to offer a unique perspective', he says. Listings wanted
