Gor Abrahamyan - Armenia
Art Brokerage: Gor Abrahamyan Armenian Artist: b. 1976. Gor Abrahamyan is a born artist. He still recalls the delight he took as a very young child drawing animals and what he now calls "something like a human being". His teachers recognized his talent early and by the age of six he had attracted the attention of the local media. After graduating from secondary school he entered the Terlemezyan Art College where he received his first formal training. From a little man drawing little men Abrahamyan has matured into a highly successful painter whose work includes among other things liturgical pieces for Russian and Armenian churches. He is currently absorbed with landscapes and studio work, in particular large canvases exploring themes in Armenian mythology. Abrahamyan is regularly commissioned as a portraitist and has recently ventured into book illustration. Most often described as a surrealist, Abrahamyan has exhibited in galleries at NPAK (the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art), Hay Art Center, and the Narecaci Art Center in Yerevan, Armenia. He has exhibited outside Armenia as well; in New York, Beirut, and Mexico. Gor says painting is not a conscious process for him; rather it comes from deep in his blood and is as necessary to him as breathing. He believes absolutely that a painting exists long before its physical creation, and that he is merely the mechanism that brings it to life. Abrahamyan is devoted to his native Armenia and very much considers himself a pure "Easterner". Listings wanted.
